Can I use this stone to heal? 7 criteria for therapeutic gemstones

When deciding if a crystal can be used for energy healing, there are 7 criteria to consider. These are: type, shape, color, clarity, size, authenticity and brightness.

Guy

Let’s talk about the guy first. Not all herbs are medicinal, and not all fruits are edible. Also, not all stones have uplifting properties. New species of therapeutic minerals can be difficult to verify. Just because a gemstone is beautiful does not necessarily mean that it has significant and identifiable healing benefits. If you’re unsure about a certain gem, find out what the experts are saying about it. More importantly, look within to discover your true affinity, and then if you have a sample, use a self-assessment method to find out if your body’s energy is compatible with the stone.

form

Shape is an extremely important therapeutic parameter. In gemstone therapy, we prefer spheres or rondels, cut from the purest portion of the original crystal. The more expensive healing gems, such as ruby, emerald, and blue sapphire, are usually cut in the shape of a circle, which looks like a flattened donut with a very small hole. This form conserves the raw material, so it can be used in the most economical way. Rounded gemstones are the best, because their healing energies can radiate in all directions and access your entire body and aura.

Tokens are often used for therapeutic purposes, but may be inferior to spheres and circles because the shape of the token can hide imperfections in gemstones. Also, the energies that radiate from a chip are projected in random directions, which can be uncomfortable for very sensitive people. In certain situations, faceted gemstones can be used for therapeutic purposes. Their energies tend to project into the aura in concentrated beams, sent through each facet.

Color

At the same time that you notice the shape of a gemstone, you also see its color. Each gemstone has unique characteristics and color parameters. Therapeutic-grade gemstones have a rich, well-saturated color that is uniform throughout and has a nice hue, not too dark or washed out. But this criterion also varies between stones. Blue Topaz is naturally a pale ice blue and the darker specimens are clearly radiated. Therapeutic grade aquamarine is also light blue, but darker than blue topaz. Aquamarine can range from a pure light blue to a slightly greenish blue.

Clarity

Clarity is essential to determine therapeutic quality. Clarity is a measure of the flaws or inclusions within a gemstone. It also refers to the opacity, translucency, or transparency of the gem. The defects can be superficial or internal. As with color, each gemstone has its own unique clarity parameters. There are many types of inclusions and some are fine in certain gemstones but should be avoided in others. For example, black dots are an integral part of Dalmatian Jasper and Black Rhodonite, and often appear in Riverstone and Marble. But Blue Sapphire must be free of them. In most cases, cracks or colorless inclusions are okay if they are minimal, and are often seen as evidence that the gemstone has not been irradiated or tampered with, activities that can erase such blemishes.

Clarity also determines the purity of a healing stone. When you cast a crystal into a sphere intended for gemstone energy medicine, you extract only the purest part of that crystal. Likewise, in herbal medicine, the phytochemicals are taken and the fibrous, non-essential portions of the plant are left behind. Healing gemstone spheres give you the true essence of the crystal. They allow you to work at a high vibrational level with gems of exceptional therapeutic quality.

Size

Size is often important in the world of gemstones, although size is relative! Ruby, emerald, and blue sapphire that are smaller than 3.5mm may be sufficient for self-therapy, but should not be used by gemstone therapy practitioners because they are simply too small. These small gems do not have enough mass to support the transmission of their healing energies very far into the aura, or significantly into the body. It is better to have fewer, but larger rondels of these gemstones in a necklace, than an entire necklace of smaller rondels. A perfect solution is to combine ruby, emerald or blue sapphire with the less expensive white beryl in a necklace. This will make the necklace more affordable and you will get the benefit of larger gemstones.

Authenticity

A precious stone is authentic if it is natural and does not receive any treatment. Most therapeutic grade gemstones are natural. However, some require heat treatment to bring out their therapeutic qualities. Heating tanzanite is essential to bring out the unique bluish-purple color of this gemstone. Carnelian is also typically heat treated and stained for uniform color. Black Onyx is also necessarily dyed to be therapeutic. Irradiated gemstones have uncomfortable and potentially harmful energies and should not be used for healing purposes.

Brightness

The brilliance of a gem is related to the way it plays with light. If the stone is dull then it should have a good polish. Translucent and transparent gems usually have excellent brilliance if they do not have cloudy inclusions. Some gems, such as Citrine and Topaz, have a natural white glow and are particularly bright. Therapeutic grade gemstones will display the proper brilliance for their type.

Therapeutic quality gemstones are truly special and rare. Only one percent or less of any particular type of gemstone has therapeutic potential. Owning one is a blessing and, if cared for properly, can continue to benefit your family for generations to come.
