Care Bears History and Facts

The adorable Care Bears were first created by the American Greetings company in 1981. They were intended for use in greeting cards and became very popular with the public. Artist Elena Kucharik was the first to create the images of our beloved Care Bears and in 1983 they became a series of teddy bears popular with children. They were later given their own cartoon series that ran from 1985 to 1988 and then they got three major cartoon movies called The Care Bears Movie, Care Bears Movie II: A New Generation, and The Care Bears Adventure in Wonderland.

Each of the Care Bears comes in a different color and they have colorful graphics on their bellies. Care Bears are capable of causing bolts of magical power to shoot out of their bellies to help solve many problems. Each of the cuddly bears has a different beam that shoots out of their bellies and contains all their special love and care. Each Care Bear has a different specialty chart and different special care. For example, Bedtime Bear has a sleepy crescent moon on its belly. He is capable of sending a beam of special attention during sleep. And Cheer Bear is a happy guy who can help others feel happier with his joyous energy beam.

Even today, Care Bears are popular with children. They love to cuddle with their own special cuddly bear. The Care Bears have all kinds of merchandise and entertainment available. You’ll find them in cartoons, books, music, classic Care Bear toys and video games, and even comics. They also include the cuddly bears in the greeting cards, so you can send a cuddly bear card to someone special on their birthday.
