And this makes it one of the largest car rental companies in the world. This company was established in the city of Chicago by a businessman known as Walter L. Jacobs in the year 1910.
Later, in the year 1923, Mr. Jacobs sold the car rental business to John Hertz. John Hertz was then the president of the Yellow truck, coach and cab manufacturing company, but remained as the company’s managing and operating executive. Later in the year 1926, this company changed its name to Hertz Drive-Ur-Self system, but General Motors Company acquired Yellow Truck Company and also took over the Hertz car rental company. The history of this company goes way back in history and with his experience in the business, the Hertz car rental company is one of the best in the world.
Hertz’s first car rental office opened in 1932 at Chicago’s Midway Airport, and it was during the same year that the company first introduced its autonomous driving program, which was meant to help people who are in the region for a short time with transportation without a driver. The car rental company was later acquired by the Omnibus Corporation in 1953 from the General Motors corporation and its name was changed to The Hertz corporation. Mr. Jacobs remained the company’s president and served as president through the entire year of 1960 when he officially retired. Later in 1994, the Hertz car rental company acquired a company known as Metropolitan Distributors, which was a New York City-based truck rental company. Leon C. Greenbaum, who was president of the Metropolitan Distributors company, later became vice president of the board of directors of the Hertz car rental company.
Ford bought the outstanding shares of the Hertz company, thus fully owning it. Later in the year 1997, the Hertz company launched its website. The website was meant to make the company known worldwide and contained all the information about the company’s services and its rates for all its services. It also contained all the reservation information and due to the rapid growth of the company, it later formed the NeverLost navigation system together with the Megella Corporation, which turned out to be a great success.
