Windows Virus Update 2011 is a virus created by hackers to try to trick you into buying a piece of software that you neither need nor work. If you have this virus, it is likely that it infects your computer from several different Internet sources, including unauthorized emails, infected downloads, or fake websites; and now it will cause a lot of problems for your PC as a result.
Although Windows Virus Update 2011 is a virus, it is more of a nuisance than anything else. The good news is that it won’t steal any of your information… but it will block many of the important programs and features you’ll need to use to get rid of it. The bottom line is that this virus is really very difficult to remove with traditional antivirus applications, because it has been designed in such a way that it prevents them from working to get rid of it. We found out that you need to take some additional steps to get rid of the infection.
The way to remove this virus is to basically make sure that you can use your system without the virus there first, and then remove the settings that it will have inside. The way to do this is a 2-step system, which is to first stop the program from running, and then delete its files/settings. To do this, we have found that the most effective solution is to use “Safe Mode” in Windows and then a dedicated spyware removal application to stop the virus from working.
We recommend starting the removal by restarting your PC in “Safe Mode”. Basically, this will allow your computer to boot without the virus working, which will then allow you to properly remove it. To do this, you must follow these simple steps:
- Restart your infected PC
- Before Windows loads, continuously press F8 on your keyboard
- When the “boot options” menu loads, select “Safe Mode with Networking”
This will allow your PC to load without the virus running by getting rid of your files. This is best done using a program called a “spyware removal tool.” This type of software is capable of removing all parts of the virus that your PC will have, ensuring that it can function at its best again. The tool we recommend for this process is one called XoftSpy, as it can remove most of the rogue antivirus files from your system.
