Prenatal Yoga Training
Introduction to Prenatal Yoga – Why it is Important in Pregnancy? Practicing prenatal yoga is extremely calming and soothing for you and your baby. It helps you to prepare mentally for labor and delivery. It is also beneficial for women who are already in labor. The poses in the yoga classes can help you prepare for contractions and easy breathing techniques that help you prepare for delivery.

If you are considering attending an in-person class to learn prenatal yoga, there are a few things that you should know before that first class. First, it is very important that you check out all the different classes in your area. There are so many available and each one may have different levels of skill and expertise. You want to make sure that if you choose to go to an in-person class, it is in a location that you feel comfortable in and where other students are present. Another thing to consider before training is that you may need to bring a friend or family member if you are unfamiliar with the poses or methods.
Pre-natal yoga training can be done through email, on the internet, through telephone and even by phone! By way of email, I have received many “wows” and “ah-ha’s” from clients who were completely unaware of the benefits of prenatal yoga training until they went to a physical class. Some trainers will set up a link up with a client’s instructor to provide instructions via the telephone or via a screen. In addition to receiving instructions by phone or via a screen, some trainers encourage clients to email them questions or concerns. It is very easy to get caught up in the excitement of your pregnancy and forget to check on your emails for a few days, but make sure to check in on your progress with a client regularly.

If you decide to go to an in-person prenatal yoga training class, there are some things to look for when choosing a program. First, a good program should have a certified teacher; this will assure you that you are getting the best training and are getting the most benefit from the class. Also, a good program will require no more than five hours of teaching per week. If a program requires more than five hours minimum contact hours, there are probably several reasons why: either the instructor has not been certified by the Accrediting Bureau of Yoga, or the yoga studio is only one of hundreds of Yin Yoga Studios in the country and they cannot guarantee that you’ll like their classes, so they add on extra teacher trainings.
A wonderful alternative to e-RYT is Surya Yoga, which offers the same benefits as a yoga teacher training course, but is offered by someone who is a skilled yoga teacher. In this case, the training takes place on an in person basis, and the instructor is a trained professional. Surya yoga also does not require any certification. Instructors are paid on a performance fee basis, so they do not have to worry about the cost of overhead such as printing out paperwork or paying taxes. They are paid solely based on how many students they can accommodate and on the number of sessions they plan to teach each week. Surya also offers the added benefit of having its own studio, which can make it easier to get together for group classes.
If you’re looking for a great way to get started in prenatal yoga, I recommend attending a prenatal yoga training class with an experienced trainer. However, don’t be afraid to go at your own pace and to ask the instructor questions if you have any. It’s also a great idea to read everything you can about the body and mind of a newborn baby, including pregnancy, childbirth, early care, breastfeeding and everything in between. There is much information out there, but you should use your best judgment based on personal experience and on what you’ve been told by other instructors. If you find that you’re comfortable with basic instruction and want to move into teaching advanced poses, then do so; just make sure that you continue to practice yoga every single day at least six months after your baby comes into the world to avoid repeating any risks associated with the poses.
