o Washington Redskins. The Redskins just play in too strong a division. As the season goes on, Philadelphia will get better and Washington will lose many of its conference and division games as teams better prepare for them.
o Green Bay Packers. Unfortunately for Aaron Rodgers, his first season as a starter in Green Bay won’t go exactly as planned. While they have a lot of talent, the Bears have a stronger defense and the Vikings have a stronger team in all aspects.
or San Diego Chargers. This team can’t keep coming back every year. There are too many injuries this year, like Shawne Merriman’s season-ending knee injury. Also, those bad early calls could indicate a bad omen and bad feelings brewing in the locker room.
teams that will improve and make the playoffs:
o Seattle Seahawks – The Seahawks have basically been playing without wide receivers, but some of their best will be coming back. Not much stands in their way in a weak NFC West.
o Jacksonville Jaguars: This team’s defense is too good not to turn around. David Garrard is steady and occasionally excellent at quarterback, and the running game is dueling threat.
Teams that will stay where they are:
o Indianapolis Colts: This will be the first time in a long time that the Colts haven’t made the playoffs. But the offensive line is a mess, and not one but two teams stand in front of them.
o Tennessee Titans – One of those teams is the Titans, eyeing the Colts from the top spot. Their defense will keep them going in every game and the running game is improving.
o Detroit Lions and Oakland Raiders – Let’s face it, these two teams love last place, and nothing in the foreseeable future is going to change that!
It’s never too early to start planning for the second half of the season and the postseason when it comes to betting on the NFL. Map out the teams you think will improve or fall, and you’ll have a better idea of who to place your bets on online.
